Health
While Indonesia is making strides to improving its healthcare system, the infrastructure providing quality care is fragmented. Specifically, a lack of well-trained physicians often impacts those who need urgent care the most. Whether your approach is preventive or curative interventions, what you create can save and improve lives, allowing people to better themselves and others.
Track focus:
Social Good
Social justice for all, is the fifth and final principle of Pancasila, the foundation of Indonesia’s philosophy as a state. While significant progress has been made to close the gap, it is clear that there are significant systemic challenges for certain groups within Indonesian society. We believe that your solutions can create opportunities for Indonesians, regardless of creed, ethnicity, or gender, to survive and thrive.
Track focus:
Rural Development
Home to 270 million people and 17,000 islands, Indonesia has seen rapid economic growth in the past 50 years. While some affluent regions have flourished, others have not developed as quickly. The government’s increased efforts to improve internet connectivity grants millions of Indonesians access to reliable internet for the first time, and there are many unexplored opportunities.

When we brainstormed this year’s tracks, a theme keeps coming back to us: inequality...
The COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing economic downturn have further amplified the
asymmetric opportunities and solutions available for your everyday Indonesian. We believe that that
has
to change. Our tracks and guiding questions have always been broad because we believe that there are
so
many ways to tackle the issues we raised this year. Don’t create a grandiose and vague plan to
answer
all the guiding questions. Instead, we encourage you to dig deep, and ask your team, “what specific
issue within these tracks do I want to see resolved, and why?”. Build your hack around that, even if
it
only impacts a few people. We hope that the ideas of the entire hacking class would be actualized
and
collectively improve the lives of millions of Indonesians.
Welcome to Garuda Hacks 3.0, we can’t wait to see what you will
create!
Cheers,
The Garuda Hacks 3.0 Team
